Coastal Family Hub provides mental health support to children, young people and families in Whitstable, Herne Bay and Reculver.
Children’s mental health has been in decline for over a decade and 1 in 6 children aged 5-16 are likely to have a mental health problem. This is putting pressure on support services and making it hard for parents and schools to get them the early help they need.
Our local primary schools in Whitstable, Herne Bay and Reculver have recently partnered with the Coastal Family Hub, a new Whitstable based charity that has been set up to get professional counselling into schools to those children who most need it, and to offer their parents/carers whole-family support.
Coastal Family Hub raises money, which the 12 local schools in the scheme match fund to pay for the counselling (which is supplied by a charity called Spurgeons). The costs of the family support are met entirely by the charity. Children in primary schools in Whitstable, Herne Bay and Reculver will all benefit from the scheme.
Could you give regularly to Coastal Family Hub – however small an amount - and make a difference to children's mental health in your community? We’d like as many people as possible to set up a direct debit so we can offer, sustainable, ongoing support to local children who most need it.

I work in the community in Whitstable as Team Rector of the parish, and am a school governor in two schools: St Alphege CE Infant School and Whitstable CE Endowed School. Seeing the recent increase in mental illness even among young children in our community, I want to do all I can to make a difference for families affected in this way.
With my background as an accountant who specialises in charity accounting, and my passion for mental health and wellbeing, I am excited to offer my skills to Coastal Family Hub as a trustee, so that we can make mental health support more accessible to primary school age children.
I am a retired teacher, religious education consultant and primary school chaplain. With more time on my hands now I am keen to use my skills and experience for the benefit of children in our community. It is an honour to support Coastal Family Hub in their vital work of mental health early intervention.
Working together with local school leaders in my capacity as Headteacher I recognise the increasing need for early identification of mental health challenges and impact of quality support in schools. I am pleased to offer my knowledge and expertise of schools to ensure the CFH meets the needs of our community.
